The official podcast of MovieZeal.com, where film is always best discussed under the gentle influence of fine wine (as fine as $10 will get you). Each week Evan, Heather, and Luke pick a theme, discuss a theatrical release based on that theme, pop the cork and drink a wine that fits said theme, and finally subject one another to The Gauntlet, where forcing others to watch painful films nets you fabulous prizes. There is not anything else on the internets like it (literally).

Wow. That doesn't even deserve a response. A straight-jacket, yes. But not a response. Okay, I suppose that was a response. Oh well.

Of course it's an oversimplification that the ruination of our economy, our own cities, and several foreign countries by the Bush administration was due to his Daddy issues, but they apparently played a huge part. And from what I've read, Stone gets it that the problem was that it was manipulated by neo-con sharks for their own ambitions and advantages.

Vis-a-vis the cross thing, why can't folks get the distinction that it's cynical manipulation of religion that's the problem, not religion itself?

Looks like I might have to see this one after all.

I did see that. It was so inane that it wasn't worth dignifying with a mention in the review. :)

Sam, I'd like to read that review, whenever it's done.

And Nick, I'd say don't waste your time, I guess. It's not really worthy of whatever controversy it's generated (not much, I guess).

Did you happen to stay through the credits and see the giant cross at the end that promptly transforms into a W.? It could possibly be the most absurd thing in the whole movie.

This was a bad movie in a number of ways, but I will save my observations for my own review, which by and large conform to Luke's position. I think you nailed it with this most excellent piece of criticism here.

I have no idea when I get to see this, probably in a couple of months when everyone else has forgotten all about it, but I can’t wait I guess.
