Theater Releases for November 14th, 2008

By Luke T. Harrington

Quantum of Solace
That’s right, kids. This is your only choice this week. Apparently no one wanted to go up against Bond-James-Bond doing his Bond-James-Bond thing. Well, here it is. Go see it if you want. Or just wait for the next inevitable franchise reboot (which will probably come in a decade or so).

Recommended if you need one last chance to see the good guys win before Oscar season kicks off

If they can do “Spiderman: The Musical” directed by Julie Taymor with music composed by Bono, then it’s only a matter of time before “Bond and the Tap Dancing Martinis!” hits the big time.

If you took all the themes from the Bond movies, you could probably build a decent musical around them.

And now I know what I’ll dedicate my life to. :P

Wait, there’s a musical about Spider-man? I would probably watch it. It better have the old school spider-man theme song in it.

And Luke, you are right – there ARE plenty of songs to work with. If ever there was a ‘mansical,’ this would be it. I’d watch it.

This reminds me of the Star Wars Holiday special, for some reason. I never quite made it through that thing once they started singing.

Want a Mansical. I recommend Ruling Class. Peter O’Toole is a britsh lord who happens to think he’s Jesus, but after a showdown with the Electric Messiah, he changes back to normal…or does he… Mwhaahaahahaaa

Sweet Fancy Moses I love that movie.
