Here, it's like I realized for the first time that he's actually a decent actor. That realization may have overpowered any minor weaknesses to the performance. But I do agree with your assessment of Fiennes, Rick. And you forgot to mention Lord Voldemort in your list of his accomplishments. Even though I only gave this film 3 1/2 stars, I keep thinking back to it over and over and over. It has stuck with me the way other films have not. Martin McDonagh is a talent to watch, methinks. Hopefully he is more than a one trick pony (ala Guy Ritchie, who has one movie and one movie only in his system) and will come out with some truly outstanding work in the future. The same guy who played the grieving husband in "The Constant Gardener," Charles Van Doren, Amon Goeth in Schindler's list, and now this lizard-eyed gangster who loves his kids. Superb!
