This one, for instance, is pretty much two hours of dumb, bloody action--but that's all it's trying to be. I'm not about to condemn it because it's not <i>All the President's Men.</i> Really, I try to use the stars to indicate (a) how much I enjoyed the film and (b) how much I would recommend it to others. This was a film I enjoyed somewhat, and would recommend to certain people--hence, it gets three out of five stars, which is barely over half of them. Actually, I'd say this seems to be aimed straight at the coveted 18-25-year-old demographic so beloved of advertisers, but since I'm never going to see it, I'll take your word. One thing has me confused, though ... you call it "a bad movie-lover's dream" and say that it "hits slightly higher on the target than the mind-numbingly stupid level it aims for" the give it a three out of five star rating. It's got me wondering: what is your scale? Is two-stars "mind-numbingly stupid?" If so, I'd hate to see a one-star flick ... 13-year-old boys the world over thank you for the review.
