The official podcast of MovieZeal.com, where film is always best discussed under the gentle influence of fine wine (as fine as $10 will get you). Each week Evan, Heather, and Luke pick a theme, discuss a theatrical release based on that theme, pop the cork and drink a wine that fits said theme, and finally subject one another to The Gauntlet, where forcing others to watch painful films nets you fabulous prizes. There is not anything else on the internets like it (literally).

Man, I remember when I was a kid you rented that book about poltergeists from the library, and I got really scared, thinking a poltergeist would haunt our house. Then you told me that poltergeists were caused by strong emotions, and I realized that me being scared made it more likely that a poltergeist would take over our house, and that made me even more scared. Incidentally, regarding the clown thing, I used to be scared of clowns. Then I watched Stephen King's IT and now I think they're hilarious.

Whoops, sorry I missed that clear mention.

Whatever happened to Craig T. Nelson, anyway? He had some decent 80's and 90's credits, but you don't see to much of him these days.

Sure was. Hence, my comment about:

making us all wonder, for the millionth time: If everyone is scared of clowns, why do they keep forcing them on children?

...but yeah, in terms of crazy-weird scares, Poltergiest delivers pretty well. :)

Wow, great review. I especially like this insight: "There are a handful of “jump scares” here, but in order to truly terrify you, a film needs to make you be scared for its characters. In that respect, Poltergeist doesn’t fare particularly well."

Doesn't take much for me to get spooked, though, and the clown in the bedroom was scarred me for a long time. That was in this one, right?
