Mystery Poster Theater #15

By Evan Derrick

Ready for a new round, are we? Fingers crossed it’s not a blowout like the last few times (Joseph, Fox, I’m looking at you two). The Easy one is a bit easy – won’t be surprised if it’s guessed right away – but the Hard one should provide a nastier challenge (knock on wood).

Rules recap, for those who might be new: a new set of mystery posters appears every Wednesday at 11AM CST. The EASY one is worth 1 point, the HARD one is worth 2. No penalties for wrong guesses, so have at it in the comments section.

THE SCOREBOARD THUS FAR…
Fox – 11
taybo20
– 9
Jason
– 5
Eric – 5
Sarah – 5
Joseph Demme – 5
redison – 3
Fletch – 2
Collin – 2

What, no more takers? Well no hints this time.

I admit that I’m stumped…I’ve looked at the posters for Catch and Release, Ordinary People, Raising Arizona, and Terms of Endearment (along with a bunch of other, of course)…they all feature photographs that are slightly askew, but none quite match the mystery poster here. I’m drawing blanks.

Am I at least on the right track?

You’re exactly right on what’s in the poster, although it’s a completely different film from the ones you mentioned.

I looked at Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice, but it was no use.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, maybe? Power Rangers? Maybe there are 5 power rangers, I’m not sure.

    HA! Victory is mine. Finally.

    Ok, ok, here’s a hint.

Isn’t that the special edition poster of “Speed Racer”? The one they hung at the Metropolitan Opera house.

Heather, I am IMPRESSED! And not ordinary impressed, but all caps, bolded, and italicized impressed. Nice nice nice work. :)

And Maurice, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN! Luke and I have regular conversations that begin with, “What do you think Maurice is up to these days?” Do we need to review some more sci-fi/horror/action-y films (which certainly seem to be your cup of tea)? Where are the marathon comments of yore that we so looked forward to reading? Glad you still have it in you to rib me over Speed Racer. Just wait till you see our end of year list. :)

Haha, and now I’m realizing what a moron I am because I looked at that, and since it was only half of their faces, it didn’t register that they were squares… :-P

So close, Ryan. So very close. Don’t worry – one day, you too can be on the leaderboard. I know it’s been a dream of yours for quite some time now. :)

Unless I’m mistaken, that’s the first time Heather’s actually posted on the site, right? :)
