Well, Luke, I’m glad there’s a guy out there who is willing to review movies like this, because otherwise the only criticism they ever recieved would be from girls talking about how warm and fuzzy they did or didn’t feel at the end. If you have contributed nothing else to the world of film (and I am not implying that you have)you’ve contributed that.

Of course you’re not. And a very entertaining review. I happen to enjoy — a guilty pleasure — vapid rom coms. But I’m glad to see one that rises above the rest.

There have been a fair number of films over the years that don’t adhere to the three-acts-and-a-climax narrative style. Most recently, Hou Hsien-hsaio’s “Flight of the Red Baloon” didn’t. It was a slice-of life look at one woman’s life. Does that make it yonic?

Yeah, I could see that. I haven’t read any Showalter, but I’m vaguely familiar with her work. I can’t, for the life of me, remember which critic posited the original argument I refer to, though.

Have you seen HJNTIY, Sarah? Am I nuts for thinking it at least flirts with the yonic?

(As a side note, “Flirts with the Yonic” would be a great name for a band. )

As a fellow English major, from what little I’ve studied of feminist literary theory so far, you’re best bet to answer your question of “What would yonicentric literature look like?” is probably Elaine Showalter.

Have not seen this movie but even being a guy, kind want to check it out once it hits DVD. I have heard mixed things from girls who have seen it, of course they liked the book better, but still seems like an amusing simple watch, basically as a guy saying how yep, all that is true. Completely not interested in you.
