The official podcast of MovieZeal.com, where film is always best discussed under the gentle influence of fine wine (as fine as $10 will get you). Each week Evan, Heather, and Luke pick a theme, discuss a theatrical release based on that theme, pop the cork and drink a wine that fits said theme, and finally subject one another to The Gauntlet, where forcing others to watch painful films nets you fabulous prizes. There is not anything else on the internets like it (literally).

I have a feeling I will dislike Maddin intensely. I've never seen any of his work, but it sounds like the kind of thing I have a hard time appreciating. For example, I really don't enjoy Lynch's work (apart from his more grounded fare, such as The Elephant Man), and I know there are strong parallels between him and Maddin, at least stylistically.

And yes, this week is wicked weak (alliteration for the win). Although I have heard wonderful things about the Ali doc, which is why it went to the top of the list.

And I remember liking Mac and Me, but that was when I was 8. My tastes have changed slightly since then.

LOL.... thats awesome! Glad to see that Haiku Madness is spreading.

Wow this week is super weak. One film I'd like to add, that I haven't seen yet, but am salivating all over myself in anticipation. Guy Maddin's "Brand upon the Brain". Surreal madman with seriously strange sense of humor... and that just the director.

Not me Luke.

Admittedly, this week's lineup is one of the weakest on record, but this remains a beautifully formatted feature here at Movie Zeal.
