Like y'all already mentioned in the comments, I think it's gets a bad shake. I prefer it to Blood, Miller's, and Fargo, and it's Clooney's best performance so far. Considering the unfavorable reaction from most, I've always been kind of ashamed to have liked it, but that's pretty silly. It's not high art, but it's a fun time, and Clooney is a gas in it.
