For any other movie I would say that your being too mean, but even I didn't like this one. I mean, I'm the guy who'll watch an entire movie of crap if there's a few minutes of good action in it. When it comes to this movie you really can't be too mean. When you compared this to Freddy vs. Jason you went too far, but only because that movie was actually watchable.

"there has never been a good movie that was promoted under an acronym, ever"

Let's not be too hasty there, Mr. Harrington. I know of at least two movies promoted using acronyms (UHF and TMNT) and while neither of them may be actually good film making, they're both great as entertainment.

This film is 8o's action popcorn that makes absolutely no sense. Salerno establishes one idea then two seconds later contradicts it. As an action movie, AVP:R succeeds. As anything else, it fails. I wrote a review for the film myself: http://film-book.com/alien-vs-predator-requiem/. Some think I rated the film too highly but oh well.

This is just one of those films that screams “stay away.” They promoted it with a pretentious acronym...

...and with a horrid trailer that featured a children's choir singing Silent Night.

This is just one of those films that screams "stay away." They promoted it with a pretentious acronym (there has never been a good movie that was promoted under an acronym, ever). Then they chose the acronym "AVP:R"--which is just half a step away from desperately screaming, "This one's rated R! We promise you all sorts of disgusting gore and violence!"

Hollywood's cynical manipulation of fanboys as of late is quickly becoming tiresome. How many more bad sequels and reboots of comic book franchises will we have to endure? How many years before Batman Begins...Again (I'm guessing about five)? Ugh.

Then again, if you're expecting an intelligent horror flick from the global conglomerate that brought you Fox News and MySpace...well, um, good luck with that.
