TRAILER PARK: The Incredible Hulk

Hollywood’s last go at this franchise was one of the worst examples of faulty director choice I’ve ever seen (except, perhaps, John Woo for Windtalkers, but that’s another matter). Ang Lee is an amazing talent behind the camera, but whatever studio exec thought he was a good choice to helm a comic book film was smoking some bad crack that day. If the following trailer for the new reboot is any indication, Louis Leterrier (The Transporter franchise, Unleashed) was the right director for the job. In other changes, Edward Norton replaces Eric Bana, and I am all for the switch. Bana was always a little too rough and rugged to be Bruce Banner, but Norton is the perfect fit.

Feast on the new green giant here (in cruddy Flash as well as HD)

Yes, yes, yes. I watched this yesterday and couldn’t be happier. Abomination looks pretty freaky, though.

Question, though. I can’t figure out if it’s a reboot or a sorta-sequel. Any ideas?

    It’s a reboot, I believe.

Disappointing. I’d rather see Ang Lee working on this.

You stand alone Joseph. Very alone.

At the risk of getting myself banished, I kind of liked Ang Lee’s Hulk. Don’t get me wrong on this–he screwed up all the important parts of a superhero movie (i.e., the action sequences). But as a Freudian monster drama, I thought it worked pretty well. If nothing else, it was different enough to hold my interest.

I’m kind of wondering now–is Marvel so determined to immortalize all of their characters in celluloid that they’ll remake every film until it doesn’t suck? And if so, how many tries do you think it’ll take them to get The Punisher right? (I’m guessing eight or nine.) :)

Whoa whoa whoa! I realize I’m late to the party here, but let’s not get crazy. Luke, Punisher did not suck. Sure, it was cheesy and the acting could have been better at times. But nothing beats that classic moment when the main character confronts the main villain in the parking lot.
    Villain: You killed my son.
A scream and an explosion are heard in the background
    Punisher: Both of them.

I, on the other had are far more concerned with how long it’ll take to make one Fantastic Four movie that has something, or anything, good about it.

I’ve made it my goal in life to track down a copy of Roger Corman’s no-budget version. It’s got to be better than the two recent ones. :)
